Upcoming Conferences & Webinars

Colorado Association of School Executives Summer Convention

Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center, Breckenridge, Colorado
July 27–29, 2022

Dr. Kris Rouleau, executive director of McREL’s Learning Services team, leads a session on Using the Science of Curiosity and Learning to Spark Schoolwide Improvement to dive into key insights on learning science, brain/memory science, and curiosity, and show school leaders how to leverage these concepts to help teachers and students become more interested, motivated, and committed to learning.

Kentucky Association of School Administrators Annual Leadership Institute

Galt House Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky
July 27–29, 2022

McREL CEO Bryan Goodwin leads two sessions:

Focusing on What Matters Most for Student Learning examines the research supporting the importance of consistency of teaching quality—and how district leaders can help teachers achieve it every day, for every student, throughout an entire school system.

Leading Positive School Change From the Inside Out discusses the futility of doing the same things but expecting different results when faced with unprecedented challenges. A more entrepreneurial approach can stimulate a wave of empowerment and creativity among staff.

Texas ASCD Annual Conference

Hyatt Regency Downtown Houston
Oct. 23–25, 2022

Dr. Kris Rouleau, executive director of McREL’s Learning Services team, delivers the keynote address on Oct. 23 as well as a breakout session.

The interactive keynote address will emphasize the importance of curiosity in teaching, leading, and learning, including curiosity as the foundation for transforming schools from the inside out. The breakout session will go deeper into how curiosity and memory promote student learning. Participants will explore a model that emphasizes planning for learning (rather than planning for teaching) with curiosity and learning science at its heart.

Learning Forward, the Professional Learning Association

Gaylord Opryland, Nashville, Tennessee
Dec. 4–7, 2022

In his Leadership, Innovation, Empowerment, session McREL CEO Bryan Goodwin points out that student engagement and motivation are key drivers of student achievement, yet are rarely taken into account in school improvement initiatives.

Participants will explore several strategies for changing that, including curiosity-driven approaches to school improvement and the power of peer coaching.
