McREL study finds link between school climate and literacy achievement

A survey of elementary and secondary teachers across the state of Victoria, Australia, revealed that staff perceptions of five critical areas of school functioning—school climate, school leadership, professional learning, staff safety and well-being, and teaching and learning—were positively connected to student outcomes in literacy and numeracy, and that school climate, in particular, was a statistically significant predictor of 5th grade literacy achievement.
