February 2025 | In an opinion column in The Korean Herald, Professor Lim Woong asks his readers to join him in “reimagining education beyond old myths.” The column begins by setting the stage about paradigms that continue to endure even after new paradigms take hold. He references a 2021 Educational Leadership column written by McREL’s CEO Bryan Goodwin, titled “Zombie Ideas in Education,” in which Goodwin shares six dispelled education theories that won’t seem to die, even though the research has debunked them. Professor Wong then goes on to highlight several long-standing Korean education myths that he says it’s time to banish.
