March 10, 2025 | As a nonprofit education research and service organization, McREL is focused on finding, developing, and sharing evidence-based insights and resources that support effective teaching, learning, and leading.
During our nearly 60-year history of advancing that mission, we’ve operated several of the U.S. Department of Education’s Regional Educational Laboratories (RELs) and Comprehensive Centers (CCs). The federal administration’s recent decisions to cancel the RELs and CCs bring an end to our longstanding work supporting those worthy programs, which have benefited countless educators and students.
These cancellations have a direct impact on our McREL workforce, and we are in the process of reducing some positions and adjusting staffing levels companywide. Our departing staff are fantastic professionals who truly have made a difference for our clients and the students and educators they serve. As we navigate these changes, we are supporting our continuing and departing staff members as best we can.
McREL’s mission-driven work continues. We remain committed to providing education systems, foundations, and other agencies across the United States and around the world with high-quality, actionable research, program evaluation, professional learning, and school improvement services to help students and educators thrive.
