December 2024 | A recent efficacy study conducted by McREL International of the Math Basecamp program developed by Legends of Learning found compelling data demonstrating the effectiveness of the ed-tech math program.
McREL’s research focused on the implementation of Math Basecamp in Rialto Unified School District (RUSD) in California and involved a comprehensive analysis of data from over 3,000 third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students. The results found students who completed 30 or more Math Basecamp sessions experienced a 7.46 percentile point increase (an increase of 16%) in their standardized math scores compared to their peers who did not use the program. The evidence underscored the benefits of consistent and dedicated use of the ed-tech program in fostering improvements in students’ mathematical abilities.
As one area of its nonprofit education research and service, McREL provides K–12 ed-tech development companies with efficacy studies, implementation studies, curriculum/standards alignment analysis, and other services to help improve their products for educators and students and demonstrate alignment with federal ESSA evidence-base requirements.
