Vocabulary Instruction that Works Workshop
 

 
Goals/Objectives  Teaching academic vocabulary often yields immediate gains in student achievement. During this one-day, on-site workshop, participants will
  • understand the degree to which vocabulary development impacts student achievement;
  • understand current research and theory on vocabulary development and how this research impacts the classroom; and
  • learn practical strategies they can use the next day for teaching vocabulary in the classroom.
Description  This workshop provides participants with a theoretical base and proven, practical strategies for systematically identifying essential vocabulary and establishing an approach to the teaching of vocabulary in a school or district.
