Technology Audit

Goals/Objectives  The McREL Technology Audit is a comprehensive analysis of a school or district’s current state of technology hardware, software, professional development, and use of technology. The results of the Technology Audit are detailed in a report that chronicles the current state of technology availability and use and provides recommendations as you move forward with a school improvement planning process.
Description  The Audit Process:

Document Review

McREL staff review all documentation of a school’s infrastructure and professional development.

Teacher Technology Survey
All staff with direct teaching responsibilities will take the McREL Teacher Technology Survey to measure teachers' comfort with and use of technology. A detailed report is generated and the findings shared with the school or district leadership team during the first on-site visit.

Teacher and Administrator Interviews
Building principals and a sample of teachers from each building in the district are interviewed to gather data about the use of technology, related professional development, and barriers that might prevent teachers from moving forward with technology integration.

Focus Groups
A series of focus groups are conducted throughout the district with each group comprised of teachers, administrators, students, and parents.

Audit Report
McREL uses information from the document review, teacher survey, interviews, and focus groups to prepare a report to the school or district. This audit report provides a comprehensive view of where the school or district is with regard to technology availability and use, recommendations for improvement, and action steps to begin a technology integration program.
