Designing Effective Science Lessons: Session 3 - Developing Student Understanding
 

 
Goals/Objectives  

The third DESL workshop, Designing Effective Science Lessons: Developing Student Understanding, focuses on working with your students to develop their understanding of science concepts.

As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Understand strategies for developing student understanding and apply them to their own classrooms
  • Improve the level of understanding in their classrooms and the quality of their science lessons in general
Description  This session of Designing Effective Science Lessons helps teachers engage students in science inquiry, make use of formative assessments to measure student progress towards understanding, develop student understanding through collaborative science discourse, and teach concepts in depth by allowing students to practice, review, and revise their understanding.
