Goals/Objectives  

Participants in this session will learn how to initiate, monitor, and lead change effectively. Specifically, participants will increase their knowledge of
  • Effective change leadership and research-based responsibilities associated with leading change

  • How to estimate the magnitude of a change

  • McREL's framework for Balanced Leadership®

  • Capacity building and use of reflective practice
Description  This session focuses on specific leadership responsibilities associated with first and second-order change.

Included materials:

  • Balanced Leadership: Managing Change Participant's Manual

  • The Balanced Leadership Framework: Connecting Vision with Action

Recommendation:
Prior to this session, attend a Balanced Leadership: An Overview session and read School Leadership that Works: From Research to Results (ASCD, 2005) by Marzano, Waters & McNulty.
