McREL requires schools, districts or intermediate agencies that purchase the software for their administrators to attend a two-day training session designed to help school leaders gain a practical understanding of the Classroom Instruction that Works strategies, why they are so powerful in improving student learning, and how to identify their use in classrooms. Participants view a series of short videos that help them develop a clear understanding of effective instruction as well as the ability to identify the context of instruction (e.g., whole group, small groups, individuals), the type of work students are producing, whether students can identify learning goals, and the kind of technology in use. Through practical, hands-on guidance, administrators learn how to use the Power Walkthrough software on their handheld devices to capture important data during each classroom visit. Participants leave the training session ready to conduct power walkthroughs in their own schools on the very next day.Upcoming training: |
