In 2011's Understanding Common Core State Standards, McREL's John Kendall discusses how to transition to the Common Core and take advantage of this learning and teaching opportunity. In addition, you can read policy briefs and papers on the effects of standards-based education and how to identify performance standards.

McREL conducts studies related to what students should know and be able to do in K–12 and post-secondary schools. For the Stupski Foundation, for example, McREL conducted analyses on the best curriculum and college-readiness strategies to support underserved urban students of color.
