English Language Learner Leadership

Goals/Objectives

Lead the way to ELL proficiency
Are your English language learners (ELLs) still struggling to reach proficiency in language acquisition or content areas?

McREL's English Language Learner Leadership program will get your entire school focused on proven, practical strategies for improving ELL achievement.

Build support at the school & classroom level
The program's unique two-fold focus on instruction and leadership combines the powerful strategies of McREL's ASCD publication, Classroom Instruction that Works with English Language Learners, with our groundbreaking, research-based Balanced Leadership program.
  • Instruction: Learn the stages and theories of language acquisition and how they relate to instruction. Also learn how to teach vocabulary as an instructional strategy to improve ELL achievement.

  • Leadership: Learn how to create a "purposeful community" in your school—one that is committed to the success of every ELL student. Gain new insights into leading change, sharing leadership, and using data to reflect on and sustain improvement efforts.
