Balanced Leadership Institute: Choosing the Right Focus (July 2–3, 2008)
 

 
Goals/Objectives  This two-day session is designed to increase participants' knowledge and understanding of
  • School- and classroom-level practices and student characteristics correlated with achievement
  • Sustaining leadership and continuous improvement
  • Tools to asses the extent to which research-based practices are implemented
  • Tools to select research-based practices.
  • Building capacity and using reflective practice

McREL's meta-analytic research identifying research-based classroom practices, school practices, and leadership responsibilities positively associated with high levels of student achievement is the basis for this session.

Requirement:
Prior to this session, attend Balanced Leadership: An Overview, Developing a Purposeful Community, and/or Managing Change and read School Leadership that Works: From Research to Results (ASCD, 2005) by Marzano, Waters, & McNulty. In addition, we strongly recommended reading What Works in Schools: Translating Research into Action (ASCD, 2003) by R. J. Marzano and Classroom Instruction that Works: Research-based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement (ASCD, 2001) by Marzano, Pickering, & Pollock.

Costs
$350* per participant per session ($50 processing fee is waived when registering for additional sessions and for guest registrations)

*Continental breakfast and lunch provided daily.
