Goals/Objectives

In session five of the Mathematics Leadership Institute, participants will

  • Learn the knowledge and skills that students should learn under the Data Analysis and Probability standard,

  • Understand the role of and strategies for formative assessment,

  • Understand the generalizations from research and recommended classroom practices for providing feedback to students,

  • Learn how to use assessment data to inform instruction,

  • Learn strategies for increasing collective efficacy, and

  • Learn how to use video case studies to support teacher learning
Description  Session five concentrates on the data analysis aspect of the Data Analysis and Probability standard. This theme is carried forward in the instruction strand by returning to the topic of assessment.

This session emphasizes providing feedback to students and having a systematic process for using data to monitor and adjust instruction.

Teams learn how to use video case studies as a strategy for supporting teacher learning. They also learn strategies for increasing collective efficacy.
