Goals/Objectives

In session two of the Mathematics Leadership Institute, participants will

  • Learn the knowledge and skills that students should learn under the geometry standard,

  • Learn how to incorporate geometry standards in mathematics problems,

  • Learn processes for developing mathematics vocabulary lists and for teaching mathematics vocabulary,

  • Learn the characteristics of a learner-centered classroom, and

  • Know strategies for managing second-order change
Description  Session three addresses the Geometry standard and mathematics vocabulary. Teams learn processes for the systematic identification and teaching of important mathematics terms and phrases.

The instruction stand addresses how to create a learner-centered classroom that supports an equitable learning environment for all students.

The leadership strand continues the study of managing transitions by examining strategies for creating an environment that allows teachers and others to increase their understanding of the new vision of mathematics.
