Service Description:

McREL analyzes current formative assessment practices in your school or district and prepares reports for various stakeholders—school administers, teachers, principals—to help them better understand the benefits and uses of formative assessment data. In addition, we provide districts and/or schools with planning and guidance, recommendations, and assistance in creating a maintaining a string system of formative assessments.

Evaluation reports might include:

• Descriptions of the various types of formative assessments
• Explanations of how a district or school can use formative assessment data
• Explanations of the befits of these assessments for schools, teachers, and students

Planning guidance might include:

• Enhancing understanding of how different types of data (from classroom-based formative assessments to high-stakes accountability tests) can be used for instructional improvement
• Providing school-based facilitators time to meet with teacher teams to discuss data
• Allowing for structured staff collaboration time
