Service Description:
McREL’s research on the six key leadership responsibilities of superintendents and what we know about high reliability organizations in education form the basis of McREL’s Balanced Leadership District Level series of intensive staff development. Three offerings of 2−3 modules each take participants to a deeper level of understanding and practice.
Key Ideas:
The Foundation Series connects McREL’s research on district-level leadership with school-level leadership research. Modules include:
- Module 1: School District Leadership That Works: An Overview
- Module 2: Connecting District and School Leadership to Student Achievement
- Module 3: District-Level Leadership: A Systems Perspective
The Framework Series examines the components of the Balanced Leadership Framework, incorporating leading theories and research. Modules include:
- Module 4: Purposeful Community and District-Level Leadership
- Module 5: Choosing the Right Focus for District-Level Leadership
- Module 6: District-Level Leadership and Change
The Future Series, the capstone of the program, challenges participants to apply the knowledge, tools, and strategies they have learned. Modules include:
- Module 7: Anticipating the Future
- Module 8: Leading into the Future
