This report provides a descriptive analysis of how the seven states in the Central Region are addressing the increased need to prepare teachers to teach English- language learners (ELLs).

This study found that all seven states in the Central Region require ELL teachers to have knowledge of the foundations of the English language and principles of English language acquisition, as well as knowledge of teaching methodology and instructional techniques.
