General questions
Can I purchase the software without the training?
To receive the maximum benefit from McREL’s Power Walkthrough, we want you to have a thorough understanding of the research-based strategies you’ll be using. We do require training and offer several options when you purchase the software so that you can select one that’s right for you.
Can the template be customized for my district, and if so, what is the cost?
The template is fully customizable with no additional charges.
How long will I have to wait for reports?
You can generate reports in a matter of seconds. You can also export the data into a spreadsheet.
Are the reports just my observations or can I see all of the observations in my school?
Each principal can see all observations conducted at his or her school. Those at the district level can see all of the observations conducted for the entire district.
How much are upgrades?
Your yearly license fee includes all upgrades and enhancements at no additional charge.
Technical questions
Is there tech support, and if so, how much does it cost?
McREL provides helpdesk assistance during its regular working hours of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (MST) at no additional charge. Our platform provider also operates a helpdesk.
Are the data encrypted and where are they stored?
The data are encrypted with SSL through https. Our platform provider conducts multiple and ongoing backups both on- and off-site.
What software has to be installed on my district or desktop computer?
Because our software is Web-based, there is no required host software on district servers or individual desktop or laptop computers. The only software to install is for the handheld device, if you choose to use one.
Who are system administrators?
Our platform provider is the primary administrator and accesses all systems to conduct routine maintenance and make updates and changes. McREL also has several certified administrators.
Does the software require wireless or cellular service?
At its most basic level, you can enter data through the Web-based server from your computer connected to the Internet. You also can download stand-alone software for the iPod®, iPad®, iPhone®, Android™, and any laptop that will allow you to record walkthroughs while disconnected, and then upload the data when you have an Internet connection. All other smart phones require a cellular connection.
