McREL continues to have a profound impact on research, product development, and service as measured by a variety of data sources. Most notably,
REL Central
In January 2006, McREL was again selected by the Institute of Education
Sciences to administer the regional educational laboratory for the Central
Region, serving the states of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North
Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The REL Central is conducting three
major scientifically based research studies to examine the effects on student
achievement of the following interventions:
School District Leadership that Works
Also in 2006, McREL released the
results from a meta-analysis of research on the effect of superintendents
on student achievement. The study, titled School
District Leadership that Works: The Effect of Superintendent Leadership
on Student Achievement,
examined the results of 27 studies of the influence of district leaders
on student performance.
Product development
In 2006, McREL disseminated, made available, and sold more than 719,000 products to educators and policymakers. In keeping with our mission to improve the quality of education for all students, McREL disseminated or made more than half of these publications available to educators at no cost.
