Kansas Commissioner of Education Alexa Posny joins McREL's Board of Directors

Alexa Posny, Kansas Commissioner of Education, has joined the Board of Directors of Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL).
Posny, who took office in July of this year, previously served as director of the Office of Special Education for the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. She has also served as deputy commissioner of education and leader of the Division of Learning Services for the Kansas Department of Education and as director of special education.
"I look forward to representing Kansas on the McREL Board of Directors. McREL's focus on the needs of students in the 21st century aligns with my mission to ensure all students in Kansas receive the education they need and deserve to be competitive and succeed in the future, as workers and as post-secondary students," she said.
Posny holds a doctorate of educational administration and a master's degree in behavioral disabilities, both from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Her bachelor's degree, in sociology and psychology, is from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point.
