Former principal and consultant Dana Frazee joins McREL

September 25, 2007

Denver Former principal and education consultant Dana Frazee has joined Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) as a principal consultant on the Field Services team, working in school improvement and with the Great Lakes West Comprehensive Center to provide technical assistance to the Illinois Department of Education.

Previously, she served as principal for Community Leadership Academy, a K–8 charter school in Commerce City, Colo., and as a school reform consultant for several K–12 schools, including Expeditionary Learning Schools. She has also taught at the middle school and high school levels.

Frazee is especially excited to be working on a two-year study on the impact of McREL's comprehensive school improvement program, Success in Sight, on student achievement in low-performing schools. "I believe that systemic change must take place for a school to truly and permanently improve, so the fact that our work will be evaluated to prove that systemic change is the answer is exciting for me," she said.

Frazee earned her M.A. in Community and Guidance Counseling from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo., and a B.A. in German and Secondary Education from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
