Adams 12 Five Star Administrator Sammye Wheeler-Clouse Joins McREL

Dr. Sammye Wheeler-Clouse, former assistant superintendent for learning services at Adams 12 Five Star School District in Thornton, Colorado, has joined Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) in Denver, Colorado, as a principal consultant. At McREL — a nationally recognized leader in the field of instruction and school improvement — she will help educators use high-quality research to create more effective classrooms.
Wheeler-Clouse will call on her first-hand knowledge of school reform to help design and guide school improvement efforts. "Changing the efficacy level of any organization is exciting and valuable work. My proudest achievement is being instrumental in changing a status quo culture from one that accepted average as ‘good enough' to one that believed ‘we can make a difference,'" said Wheeler-Clouse.
Dr. Wheeler-Clouse has 27 years experience in education, working directly with students, teachers, and school leaders to improve student achievement by applying best practices. She has a doctorate in education leadership and innovation and a master's in curriculum and instruction from the University of Colorado in Denver, as well as a bachelor's in speech communication from the University of Illinois.
