Cherry Creek School District principal Matt Seebaum joins McREL

Denver Former Cherry Creek School District principal Matthew (Matt) Seebaum has recently joined Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) in Denver, Colorado. McREL is a private, non-profit organization offering practical, research-based solutions for teachers, principals, superintendents, and trainers.

During his career, Seebaum has served as an elementary school principal in Cherry Creek, Aurora Public Schools, and Lubbock (Tex.) Independent School District as well as a president of a non-profit foundation, trainer, consultant, author, and teacher. He is well-known as an expert on urban issues in education and has expertise in school-level leadership, school improvement, economic diversity, early childhood education, and coaching others.

At McREL, Dr. Seebaum will provide a variety of support and training for schools in the areas of leadership, literacy, early childhood, and urban issues. "I am honored to be part of a world-class organization such as McREL and to join such an esteemed group of professionals and experts in the field," said Seebaum. "My goal is to use my background and experience, coupled with McREL's research, to make a positive difference for educators and ultimately make a positive difference for children."

Seebaum holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Wyoming, a master's degree in educational leadership from Texas Tech University, and a doctorate in elementary education from Nova Southeastern University.
