Cynthia Bjork, a multilingual former staff developer, literacy and bilingual education specialist, and college instructor, has joined Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) as a principal consultant, focusing on school improvement for English language learners.
Bjork has worked with English language learners in the Denver area for 15 years, as a bilingual teacher, curriculum and literacy specialist, graduate-level course instructor at the University of Colorado, and, most recently, as an instructional staff developer on the instructional superintendent's team for Denver Public Schools.
"I want to expand my involvement in the education of English language learners to the regional and national levels," said Bjork. "I'm excited to be part of McREL's vision for ELLs, especially with our leadership work."
Bjork received a master's degree in education and her teacher licensure from Regis University in Denver and a bachelor's in French from the University of Colorado at Denver.
