Mississippi Administrator Carmon Anderson Joins McREL's Field Services Team

Carmon Anderson, former principal of Pine Grove School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has joined Mid-Continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) in Denver, Colorado. As a lead consultant in field services, Anderson joins a team working with diverse audiences to provide activities and services focused on supporting educational success for all students.
In this role, she will help develop research-based materials and support others as they apply best practices in the field. She will also support McREL's 21st Century Community Learning Centers work in after school mathematics programs.
Improving student achievement is a priority for Anderson, who said, "There is no greater love for me than being afforded the opportunity to participate in the education of children, our future. McREL offers me that opportunity on an even greater scale — by providing high quality, research-based professional development for teachers and administrators across the United States."
Previously, Anderson was a K–12 principal and curriculum coach, where she worked with teachers to improve classroom instruction and student achievement; university supervisor, where she mentored and guided teacher candidates; and secondary mathematics teacher. Anderson's areas of expertise are diverse and include mathematics instruction; alignment of standards, curriculum, and assessment; professional development; implementation of No Child Left Behind, and data-driven decision making.
She holds a master's in educational administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and a bachelor's in secondary mathematics education from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi.
