  1. Make a list of the square pieces (side lengths) in the order that they are attached to the quilt. For example, the first four square pieces are:

    The fifth square piece to be attached is a 5-inch square.

    Do you see a pattern that will help you extend this list to the tenth square?

  2. Make a list with the size of the rectangular quilt after you attach each new square.

    After the fifth square piece is attached, the rectangle will be 5 inches by 8 inches.

    Do you see a pattern that will help you extend this list until the tenth square is attached?
