As the center director for educator effectiveness at McREL, Greg provides oversight and support for McREL's work in leadership, specifically at the school level. Since 2003, he has served on McREL's leadership design and development teams, designing and facilitating high quality professional development sessions for education leaders. He facilitates Balanced Leadership sessions across the United States. Greg is the co-author of McREL's Balanced Leadership Professional Development Sessions and Teaching Reading in Social Studies. Prior to joining McREL, he was an elementary school principal, an assistant principal, and a middle and high school classroom teacher. His work during this time focused on raising student achievement through standards-based curriculum design and instructional leadership, on a school and district level.
