The Mount Laurel School District in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, has elected to work with McREL to implement a new teacher evaluation system. The state is mandating all districts put one of four approved systems in place by September 2013. Mount Laurel received board of education approval for McREL’s system in September and, in the current school year, is planning to field-test the system, train teachers and evaluators, and develop a district advisory group during the current school year. The district’s advisory committee stated to the board that McREL’s system is growth-oriented, allowing teachers to reflect on their effectiveness and help them improve instruction.
