Chemistry Teachers: Interested in Field-Testing the NanoLeap materials?

	Through an iterative development process, teachers co-develop the materials by testing the modules in the classroom and providing valuable feedback

The NanoLeap project is recruiting high school chemistry teachers for participation in a nationwide field test of two new curriculum modules during the 2007-2008 school year. More information about the curriculum, the field-test process, as well as the application requirements is available below.

NanoLeap Project Summary -
Provides a brief overview of the modules, how they fit into the existing curriculum, and the expected time commitment for field-test teachers.

• Chemistry Module Overview – NanoLeap: Nanoscale Materials and Their Properties is designed as a three-week unit that serves as a culminating extension that addresses traditional concepts and applications of nanoscale science and technology. The module's central question that students will consider is, "How and why do the chemical and physical properties of nanosamples differ from those of macrosamples?"

Field-Test Materials Packet – A comprehensive packet for teachers interested in field-testing Nanoleap, which includes the following components:

• Letter to Interested Field-Test Teachers – Outlines the field-test expectations and the application requirements
• Letter to Principals – Requests a letter of support for participating teachers
• Application Form – To be completed by field-test teacher candidates
• Sample Letter of Support – Provides format for principals to recommend/support a teacher for participation in NanoLeap field test.
